What I enjoy about exercising

Are you a person who enjoys fitness? Do you get a rushing feeling when you workout? Or are you someone who is lacking a little motivation, well you are in the right place?

In this post I’ll discuss what I enjoy about working out; as well as how a 30 minute workout can benefit you; give some tips and some ideas of how to stay motivated that may help you.

Now for me the gym is my stress reliever and a passion. I began working out back in 2012. I was in a very bad place in my life at the time and going to the gym was where I let go and forgot all my problems. Although, at the time I wasn’t receiving much benefits out of it because I was drinking a lot and was “eating somewhat healthy” it was something that intrigued me.

Moving forward to 2016 I began to take what I ate a little more serious, I meal prepped every week and would hit the gym almost every day, unfortunately I was still drinking every weekend which still didn’t help me get results. I let go of beers and stayed to just drinking wine. This is when I was introduced to weight lifting more and as soon as I saw some baby results I became obsessed!!

Below is a photo I’d like to share from 2017. 😁

Now I said I would mentioned what I enjoy about working out and exercising.

1st – The weight lifting is my favorite part because every time I got to lift more, it gave me an adrenaline rush to push for more. Even though sometimes I would push to much and feel like I wasn’t getting results and then bring myself down. Remember it’s always about the reps and your form is number 1.

2nd – I enjoy sweating at the gym because I feel like I’m releasing all toxins from my body. Plus it shows you are putting in the work.

3rd – As I mentioned before the gym is my stress reliever and I will definitely vouch for this. I’m sure you have heard your doctor tell you to workout for at least 30 minutes daily even if it’s just a walk because in reality to keep your body healthy there has to be some type of movement in your body. When I feel stress coming in or my mind rambling everywhere I hit the gym no matter how tired I may be.

Now enough of why I love working out so much and let me share some benefits to exercising.

BENEFITS TO A DAILY 30 MINUTE WORKOUT

1. Heart health – minimize your risk of a stroke, cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, diabetes. A half hour gym session will minimize these risks but will keep your heart and blood flow happy.

2. Weight loss – Even with half an hour of exercise per day can help you prevent excess weight gain or maintain weight loss – YEP! Sticking to a high-intensity sessions to burn more calories ( if you’re struggling with time to get more active in your day to day duties take the stairs more often or walk during lunch time)

3. REDUCE STRESS – my favorite benefit! Exercise increases the amount of norepinephrine in your body – a chemical that can moderate our brain’s response to stress and stressful situations. If you’ve had a rough day, go ahead and get sweaty!

4. Improve self confidence – We all have days where we feel less than average – 30 minutes of exercise could be the difference between a self-pity sob session and a well-deserved hit of self confidence, so don’t be afraid get sweaty. Your body will thank you in the long run.

Finding some motivation when you’re not motivated

First and foremost make it FUN!

Stop the excuses and make physical activity part of your daily routine. Yes I know we all have a busy work/life schedule but find at least 30 minutes to move your body. You will thank yourself.

Put it on a paper (Today I will take 30 minutes to work my body out) stick it in your fridge, your bathroom mirror, next to your bed wherever you think you’ll see it post it! This is how you’ll set goals start with a simple goal and then progress to longer range goals. Example – start with 30 minutes then pump it up to 45 mins a day.

Reward yourself with each session, take a few minutes to savor the good feelings that exercise gives you. This type of internal reward can help you make a long-term commitment to regular exercise.

Be flexible, if you’re too busy to workout or simply don’t feel up to it, take a day or two off. Go easy on yourself if you need a break. BUT DONT make it a recurring habit and say tomorrow I’ll go no find the motivation in you.

Now that you’ve regained your enthusiasm, get MOVING! Set your goals, make it fun and pat yourself on the back from time to time. Remember physical activity is for LIFE.

Hope these tips are helpful to you and push you to become and stay more active.
